Discarded Memories is a series of sculptures based on a digital walk through Google Earth. I study space both as a condition and through the relationships it produces and is produced by. I am interested in the ease with which we navigate an informational environment, the passivity with which we receive information, and the dissolution of any real connection to the physical world. The digital exploration of a place gives the impression of being inside an environment without truly being there, distancing the experience into a mere representation. I focus on the errors of an ostensibly reliable source and create sculptures from the fragmented structure of the 3D rendering of the Acropolis.
